About Us:
My name is Nicole and I’ve been breeding hedgehogs since 2000. I took a short hiatus to have our second child, and after she was old enough to afford me the time, I dove right back in to my beloved hobby. I think hedgehogs are one of the most adorable creatures on the planet and I truly enjoy caring for them.
Our family includes myself, my husband Mark, our two daughters Alyssa and Emily, and many pets plus the hedgehogs!
Alyssa is my helper with the hedgehogs and helps to socialize the babies so that they are as friendly and tame as possible before going to their new homes. She also helps to feed and water the hedgehogs and give them clean shavings. She is very proud of the part she plays in caring for our quilly friends.
Why Hedgehogs?
I enjoy animals of all shapes and sizes and the more unique, the more fascinating I find them.
I met my first hedgehog when I was 16 in a pet store; I fell in love with them immediately and read as much as I could about hedgehogs. It wasn’t until I was married that I was able to finally own one of my own. I adopted an old, blind, grumpy, female with a lame leg and a tendency to bite. I named her Moxie. She lived with us for about a year before she passed away. Through that time she taught me a lot and she also was able to trust me and became much easier to handle and even showed me some affection.
When I was ready for another hedgehog, I couldn’t find any locally. So I had to have a hedgehog shipped. I thought that other people would probably be interested in having hedgehogs so I decided why not get a pair and start breeding. After my first litter was born, I decided this was something I really wanted to pursue and Prickly Pair Hedgehogs was born.

Complete Cage Setups –
Do you want to make sure you have everything for your new hedgehog, but aren’t sure what you need or what is safe and the right size for your hedgehog?
We have the solution! Our complete cage packages have everything you will need to start your hedgehog off right. No need to shop around or visit different stores trying to find the right products, we have it all here waiting for you when you pick up your hedgehog.
Our cage package includes:
Home - A spacious, well ventilated Marchiorio cage (the best available!). These cages are made in Italy and are easy to clean and very durable. They are also great for keeping small children and cats out of your hedgies cage. Dimensions are: 32.25” x 20” x 17”
Water Bottle and Bottle Holder - All our babies go home drinking from a water bottle.
Keeping the same type of water dispenser will help avoid confusion, dehydration, and aid in the animal adjusting to his new home.
Food Dish – These are the same ceramic crocks that we use for our hedgehogs.
Shavings – We supply you with a small package of Aspen shavings (the same bedding we use), to again, help with the transition of a new home. Our babies have been raised on Aspen and this is one less change they need to deal with when going into their new home.
Food – We include a one month supply of our current mix in addition to the one week supply we give with the purchase of a hedgehog. Again, the helps with the transition period, helps to avoid digestive upset, and refusal to eat.
Litter Pan – Some will use them, some won’t. But is does make cage cleaning and maintenance much easier if they do! We will teach you the best ways for success when you purchase your hedgehog.
Igloo – Hedgehog love to feel safe and secure and these pet igloos are the perfect sleeping and hiding spot.
Hedgie Bag – Hand made bags for your hedgehog to snuggle up in, under, or on top of.
Wheel – These are vital for the health and mental well being of your hedgehog. Not all wheels are appropriate for hedgehogs, but these Comfort Wheels are the perfect size and are made with a solid surface which hedgehogs require. We can also show you a simple solution to make cleanup a breeze!
Toy – This is a tube made out of craft foam. Hedgehogs love to push, pull and toss these around. Many of them also become tube “addicts” and run, sleep, and do pretty much everything with a tube on their head. Only taking them off to eat and drink! It’s guaranteed entertainment for both you and your hedgehog.
All of this is available for only $125!
You would pay more than that at a pet store and not to mention the cost of gas running back and forth because you forgot something.
This is one stop shopping and you know you are getting everything you need, and it’s breeder and hedgie approved!
So when you purchase or place a deposit on your hedgehog don’t forget to request your cage package!
*(We only keep three sets in stock and so need advance notice to order extra in time, so don’t wait until the last minute, order your cage package today!)
